Innovative Assistance Practices

The Bank effectively fulfilled its social responsibilities and provided continuous paired assistance to many places, such as Xietongmen County in Tibet, Akesu City and Payzawat County in Xinjiang, Tanchang County in Gansu, Pingbian County in Yunnan, and Qianjiang District in Chongqing. The bank has implemented educational assistance programs across 19 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities. In collaboration with local governments, 20 of our branches have been consistently providing support to 57 designated villages across the country, reinforcing the achievements of poverty alleviation and promoting rural revitalization. By the end of 2023, the Bank dispatched a total of 73 full-time or part-time cadres (including 24 cadres serving as the first secretary and 3 cadres residing at counties (districts)) to 41 villages in 3 counties (districts).

Paired Assistance

Building upon the effective outcomes of previous years, the bank continues to carry out targeted assistance efforts throughout the nation. In 2023, the bank directly contributed RMB 5.6557 million yuan towards rural revitalization assistance projects in various regions, while facilitating an additional RMB 11.8924 million yuan in external aid funds. These initiatives primarily focus on rural industries, infrastructure construction, education, culture, and ecological conservation.
  • In Xietongmen County, Tibet, a forage processing plant with a total area of 1,100 square meters has been constructed at an altitude of 4,500 meters, equipped with processing facilities that have gone into operation. This initiative has significantly alleviated the issue of insufficient forage for livestock during the autumn and winter seasons in pastoral areas, benefiting farmers and herdsmen throughout the county. Moreover, it has addressed local employment issues by creating job opportunities.

  • In Xinjiang region, the construction of "CITIC Siyuan Square" in Kuoshituogelake Village, Yiganqi Township, Aksu City, has been completed and put into use. The square provides a better guarantee for local residents to carry out cultural education and promotional activities. It has also become a popular internet-famous site, which aids in encouraging Uyghur compatriots to voluntarily embrace and practice the core socialist values, thereby further enhancing cultural identity.

  • In Tanchang County, Gansu Province, 50 mu of uncultivated farmland in Zhangjiashan Village underwent high-standard farmland transformation. By using funds from assistance programs, an eco-friendly plantation and breeding base was established, where cherries, corn were planted and yielded bountiful harvests. With our assistance, the village cooperative raised native chickens, pigs, and Chinese honeybees, providing dividends of over RMB 100,000 yuan to villagers.

  • In Pingbian County, Yunnan Province, projects were initiated for the cultivation of seedless green limes, kiwis, and vegetables, benefiting more than 5,000 farmers in Qianjin Village. The bank continues to invest in the fruit tree industry. Currently, the village now cultivates 4,500 mu of lychee and 200 mu of Orah mandarin, positively benefiting 182 households comprising 648 individuals. In 2023, the sales revenue from fresh lychee alone reached RMB 15 million yuan.

  • In Ledong County, Hainan Province, achievements have been made in the drinking water project. This involved road leveling, pipe laying, and the construction of three reservoirs and one filtration pond. It successfully addressed the water scarcity for 1,039 residents during the dry season and simultaneously enhanced the rural landscape.

Education Support

The bank consistently undertakes education (talent) assistance programs nationwide, primarily focusing on improving the conditions of rural (township) primary and secondary schools, financially supporting students from economically disadvantaged families, and developing vocational education and skills training catering to the employment and entrepreneurship needs of farmers in assisted villages. In 2023, the bank donated a total of 3.4409 million yuan in unconditional funds for education assistance projects, directly benefiting 4,860 students. Among its efforts, CITIC Bank has sustained a student aid project called "China CITIC·New Great Wall Senior High School Student Assistance" across 19 provinces and municipalities in China, donating RMB 2 million yuan to support 1,000 financially disadvantaged high school students in completing their education. Additionally, the bank donated HKD 1,021,800 to a public welfare education assistance program in Hong Kong, benefiting 430 students from low-income families and children with special needs.

Consumption Assistance

Consumption assistance is a vital component in the revitalization of rural industries. The bank actively engages in consumption assistance initiatives, leveraging trade union welfare purchases, cafeteria procurement, and individual employee purchases to boost the sales of agricultural products from key assisted regions and poverty-stricken counties nationwide. In 2023, the total procurement amount for consumption assistance reached RMB 52.9993 million yuan.

Charitable and Volunteering Services

The Bank abode by the Charity Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Public Welfare Donations and other laws and regulations. It actively gave back to society and donated funds where they were most needed. In the year 2023, the total donation amount reached RMB 11.7351 million yuan, with employees contributing a total of RMB 2.85 million yuan.
The Young Volunteer Association of the Bank was founded in 2014 to carry out activities for practicing volunteerism, disseminating advanced concepts, and contributing to a harmonious society characterized by unity and mutual help, equality and fraternity, and common progress. The volunteers solemnly pledge to do their utmost without seeking reward to help others and serve society.
The Youth Volunteer Association has carried out a variety of voluntary activities, including rural teaching support, care for the elderly, supporting sick children and vulnerable groups, environmental protection, blood donation, wildlife conservation, charity sales. In 2023, over 12,000 young people from the bank engaged in volunteer services, conducting 1,437 events throughout the year focused on charity sales, environmental protection, rural revitalization, education assistance, financial literacy education, and more. These volunteering efforts reached over 300,000 beneficiaries and raised more than RMB 1 million yuan in funds.
